Got Facebook?

7 11 2008

So I know that a lot of people who visit this blog are only in it for the prom dresses… but if you’re really a fan, or just curious about what The TECH Project is, do check out the Facebook page for the novel.  [The TECH Project, by the way, is not affiliated with Facebook -- Facebook just hosts the page.]

I’m posting because I just posted six photos on the page.  The photos are of the six main characters of The TECH Project:

Zoe Lee
Gordy Johnson
Maria Aguinaldo
Ian Drake
Juliet Martin
Chloe Sibylle

Each photo comes with an excerpt from the novel about the character and his or her interactions with other characters.  Great way to find out more about them, don’t you think?  =]

Anyways – I would become your eternal slave if you became a fan of the page.  But you’ll have to share me with the rest of the fans.  =D

First Day of School

19 08 2008

Ah, to be a senior.

Man, I feel old.

So here’s the quick runthrough of the day:

  • Early bird science class = amazing.  Scientific Research is probably going to be an awesome start to my day.
  • I ran into Symantha much too often.  (“We have to stop meeting like this.”  “So what’re you doin’ tonight?”)
  • Helped out in one of the classrooms for volunteer hours.  Computer monitors are very heavy.
  • Saw two of my adopted freshmen at lunch.  Yeah, I AM in dress code, thanks.  And no, I was NOT a bad tour guide, you just didn’t pay attention!
  • Worked on “Dance, Dance” all through Academic Assistance.  (That’s study hall, for you lay people.)  Used my own laptop, since the school ones suck.
  • Uncle Randy is the greatest.

Some of you may have understood that.  Some of you, not so much so.  Happy trails, my friends.  I’ll post a real update later this week.

P. S.  My friend Tyler’s face looked something like this.

Dance, Dance – No, NOT About Fall Out Boy

14 07 2008

I’m extending Dance, Dance into a full-length thing.

I remember posting about this a while back – I’m not sure where, though, as I’m having difficulty locating the post.  To refresh your memory, it’s the backstory for Ian Drake.  (So far, I also have backstories for Zoe Lee, Sofie Beretta, and Gary Logan.)

In the story, he’s a freshman in high school, putting Dance, Dance about a year before The TECH Project.  He’s just gone from a Catholic grade school to a public school, and he’s also trying out for a major company ballet.  Issue?  His new friends at school don’t know about his dancing.  And what’s going to happen when they find out?

Very fun to write.

Anyhow, I’m extending it from a 4,000-word short story into something bigger, maybe a novella or novel.  I’m not sure how long it will end up being…

That’s the latest writing project, in any case.  If you’re interested, I can tell you more.  My mother and sister are getting a little annoyed with my babbling.

Lovely, Lovely Manhwaaaaa

30 06 2008

I did some drawing last night.  I know you all would like to see it.

The originals that I copied from:

http://www.koreanmanhwa.com/previews/dorothy01/12.php (Bottom panel)

http://www.koreanmanhwa.com/previews/dorothy01/13.php (Bottom panel)

The two female drawings are Maria, copied from Son Hee-Joon’s character Abee in Dorothy of Oz.  The male character, though it’s hard to tell, is Ian, copied from Son Hee-Joon’s character Tail in Dorothy of Oz.

Oh, yeah.  Go buy Dorothy of Oz.  It’s a cool manhwa series.

Anyways: I’m hoping to draw more today, so expect to see Zoe and Chloe tomorrow.

Hope! At Long Last!

Elation!

I finally wrote something new last night.

Not that I haven’t been working dutifully (read: two paragraphs per day) at the sequel to The TECH Project.  I have.  I’m at a wonderful part right now, fraught with drama and tension.

But!  This is the first short story I’ve written all summer.  It’s entitled “Dirty Work” and chronicles one of the adventures of the Team Erie Canal Heroes before they are the Team Erie Canal Heroes.  It’s narrated by Ian Drake, of all people, and talks about his misadventure during and after the first “team mission.”  (As he explains, it wasn’t much of a mission to begin with.)

In other news: I may be releasing some chapters of The TECH Project on audio in late July.  My cousin is coming for a visit – haven’t seen her in years – and since she’s an aspiring actress, I asked her to do some voice aciting for me.  She’ll be Vera’s voice in the novel, meaning that only a few chapters will be posted.

Maybe I won’t post them.  I think I will, though.

Anyways, opinions: do you want to read “Dirty Work,” or shall I leave it for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards?
